If you have the means, you can always call the professionals like those at Mr. Rooter Plumbing to have a certified plumber take care of this job. However, if you are ready for the challenge of a mini DIY project, then continue reading to learn how to install a washer and dryer.

Get Your Tools

You are going to need handy tools to get the job done. So, before you dive into the installation, make sure you have the following tools on hand:

  • Adjustable wrenches
  • Bucket Pliers
  • Standard level
  • Towels
  • Vent brush

Ensure Your Foundation

Make sure that the infrastructure and foundation is ready to support your washer and dryer installation. Ensure that you have access to the following fundamentals:

  • A 120-volt outlet with ground fault protection. The ground fault protection protects against faults and electrical interruptions.
  • You will need a water supply. The ideal location for the installation is usually near the water heater so you can tap into its outlet and inlet lines easily.
  • Make sure you have enough space to fit the machines.
  • The washing machine will need a place to drain the used water. Make sure the drainage equipment is in place.

Let’s Get Started

Before you begin installing, make sure that the area is cleaned and level. Measure the width, length, and depth of the machines as well as the space you intend to install them. Make sure the floor is sturdy and level.

Next, read the instructions to get a summary of what to expect even if you struggle to understand some of the terms. It might be dense, but the instructions can tip you on unusual specifications that require special attention.

Inspect the faucets and make sure both cold and hot water settings are functional. Flush out any debris to avoid clogs later on. Then, shut the main water supply off.
Bring the machines into place and remember to leave some space behind the machines to allow room to work. You can push the machines completely into place after hooking up the necessary pipes and wires.

Connect the water supply hoses to the respective faucets. The end with the filter-screen is the end that attaches to the faucets. If the hoses are not already color-coded for cold and hot water, then consider labeling them yourself. Tighten the hoses until they are snug.

Next, connect the other end of the water supply hoses to the back of the washer. Tighten this end just as you did the other end.
Use a screwdriver to secure the drain hose in place and feed it into the drain receptacle.
Finally, plug the power cord and push your washing machine into place.
